TDOC Loudon Release Coverage
The Tennessee Department of Correction operates a statewide prison and community-supervision system, not a Loudon County jail. Search TDOC Release Records
Open the official Tennessee FOIL search and complete its human-verification step. Use a TDOC or TOMIS ID when known because it is more exact than a name. A State ID or SID is another strong route. For a name search, enter the last and first names and use the alias or race controls only when supported by known facts. Same-name results must be checked against stable identifiers and biographical details before opening the record.
On the details view, read Supervision Status and Assigned Location first. Then record the Sentence Begin Date, Sentence End Date, Release Eligibility Date, active sentences, and any Parole Hearing Date or Result. FOIL warns that dates may change when more court documents arrive. Information can also originate in different Tennessee jurisdictions. TDOC Release Status Fields

Inactive generally points to the end of TDOC custody and supervision, especially when no active Tennessee sentences remain. An institutional Assigned Location points away from community release, even if a parole hearing result says “grant.” A grant is prospective because the community plan and other pre-release conditions may still require approval.

FOIL does not label a result “projected release date.” Its public labels are Release Eligibility Date and Sentence End Date. Keep those terms exact. Credits, court documents, detainers, offense rules, Board action, and plan approval can affect what follows. A date without the status and location is incomplete evidence.
Confirm a TDOC Release
A sound confirmation uses more than one FOIL field. Parole or probation status normally places the person outside a TDOC prison but still under community supervision. The assigned field office can confirm the reporting route when disclosure is allowed. Inactive status with no active sentences is stronger evidence that TDOC custody and supervision have ended. An institutional location or an “in custody” status means the person has not completed a community release from state confinement.
Do not equate a county handoff with a prison discharge. The LCSO record can show that local custody ended when the person went to TDOC. FOIL then becomes the continuity record. At the other end, a parole certificate, release record, or TDOC confirmation can strengthen a public status result. Request TDOC Release Records
FOIL is the public lookup, but a detailed or formal need may require the department’s records route. Identify the person by TDOC ID and specify the existing document or field needed. A court judgment is held by the originating court, not created by TDOC merely because it affects the sentence.
The request should separate source questions. Ask TDOC about its custody, sentence computation, release, and supervision records. Ask the Loudon clerk about the local judgment or order. After a state-prison release, community supervision may continue. TDOC operates that field supervision, while the Tennessee Board of Parole makes parole decisions. Loudon County is assigned to District 21, and TDOC lists a Blount/Loudon field office at 304 Home Avenue, Maryville, telephone 865-981-2360. That office is the right local contact when the person’s FOIL record points there. Always follow the individual Assigned Location rather than assuming every person with a Loudon case reports to Maryville.
Parole means supervised community release before sentence expiration. Probation is community supervision ordered by a court. Discharge means the relevant custody or supervision term has ended. These terms should not be collapsed into the word “released.” A person on parole has left prison but remains under sentence supervision. A person marked inactive with no active Tennessee sentences presents a different record state.

TDOC Release Document Support
TDOC states that its state-prison release process can provide essential documents, including state identification and birth certificates. That is useful for a person departing state custody. It must not be extended to the Loudon County jail.
